One of the best parts of traveling through the world is crossing paths with incredible people from all walks of life. One of the best ways to meet these people is by putting yourself out of your comfort zone and staying in hostels.

If you’re a solo traveler, you may get some questions about staying in a hostel. Maybe I’m showing my age a bit here, but I would always get “Have you seen taken?!.”

Well I’m here to tell you hostels are a blast (and perfectly safe). To top it off, I’ve made some lifelong friends in them. Below you’ll find some of the best hostels in Gracia, Barcelona – one of my favorite neighborhoods.

Even better than quality hostels are quality hostels in one of the hippest and most unique neighborhoods in Barcelona. With so many options, it can be hard to decide. I’ve gone to explore 9 incredible hostels in Gracia to help you find the perfect stay for your trip.

Sit back, relax, and let’s dive into which hostel you should choose in Gracia, Barcelona!

Why Stay in a Hostel in Barcelona?

Hostels tend to be a great value by offering cheaper room options than standard hotels. Barcelona is one of the most expensive cities in Spain, if not the most expensive, and hotel pricing certainly reflects that. Hostels allow you to spend more on sangria and less on warm pillows.

Hostels are often social hubs which is an invaluable perk that have, on more than one occasion, turned into lifelong friendships. They’re buzzing with like-minded travelers and curated to create an environment to connect people

Whether it’s via organized events or simply common areas, there will be no shortage of opportunities to exchange travel notes over a coffee or beer.

Lastly, hostels often offer unique experiences that hotels don’t. Plenty of hostels offer events like rooftop yoga, pub crawls, and Flamenco nights.

Staff are often fellow travelers eager to share their favorite paella spots and knowledge on avoiding tourist traps. These types of perks are often only found while staying in hostels!

1. Fabrizzios Terrace Hostel

Rating ⭐ 9.5/10 stars | Book now

Calm Barcelona street featuring outdoor benches, tree planters, and a person walking, with classical architecture in the background.
Outside of Fabrizzios – the perfect little street for a walk in the morning

Location, Location, Location! Fabrizzios Terrace Hotel is located right off the popular pedestrianized street – Girona. Girona is a brilliant street lined with trees, benches, and outdoor terraces.

Courtesy of its central location, you are a short walk from Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s most visited site. It’s also near Passeig de Gracia and the yellow metro line that will take you to the beach in 10 minutes.

Fabrizzios has a warm and welcoming family atmosphere, and it’s immaculately clean. Your hosts will make you feel like family, and you’ll be immediately welcomed by friendly staff. Free breakfast never hurts either!

While I would recommend this to just about anyone, it may not be the best fit for folks unsure of their arrival time. Guests will have 24 hour key card access, but check in is from 8:00am to Midnight. After midnight check-ins have a $10 charge. There is also a quiet hour from midnight to 8:00 am.

Cancellations can be made free of charge up until 3 days prior to checkin. Cancellations between 3 days until check in will be charged 1 night. No shows will be charged for 2 nights.

Guest review: “So cute! Not super social but everyone is very respectful and kind. Nice terrace to hang out outside. Great if you just want to chill and get a good nights sleep in a good location.” – Nicole (read more reviews)

2. Yeah Hostel Barcelona

Rating ⭐ 9.6/10 stars | Book now

Exterior view of Yeah Barcelona Hostel with illuminated 'yeah' signage in yellow, located on Carrer de Girona street. A motorbike is parked on the cobblestone pavement beside the modern gray facade.

Yeah Hostel Barcelona is a hip and happening spot on the tail end of Gracia and a short walk from Eixample. It’s a short walking distance from various points of interest and several metro stations including Passeig de Gracia train station.

While I would recommend this hostel to everyone, I think it’s a particularly great fit for solo female travelers. It’s incredibly clean, but even more importantly, secure. You’ll not only be in a great, safe area of Barcelona, but you will feel just as safe in the hostel.

Yeah Hostel has plenty of extras that travelers should take advantage of. It’s easy to book a food tour or a night tour to take advantage of all the must sees in barcelona

Additionally, they offer group dinners at 9pm each night. Group happy hours and dinners are one of my personal favorite parts of hostels, as it’s the best way to meet other travelers. Rather venture out for dinner? La Pepita is one of my favorite tapas bars in Barcelona and super close to Yeah.

If you prefer quiet hours in your hostel, this may not be the best fit, as there is no curfew. There are also no laundry services onsite (which can make packing a nightmare).

Guest review: “Great location. Staff was helpful. Had great areas to meet people. Highly recommend!” – Gully

A Barcelona street corner displaying the gray entrance of Barcelona Central Garden hostel and 'Rincó de Villarroel' restaurant sign.
Right next to a cafe – perfect!

Barcelona Central Garden, or BCG, is a popular mid-sized hostel located only 3 blocks from central Barcelona, Plaza Catalunya!

This location is great if you’re coming in from the airport and looking to take advantage of the airport bus drop off point in Plaza Catalunya. This makes it great for budget travelers looking to get around on a budget. I love the streets around this hostel – perfect for a quiet morning walk or afternoon coffee with new friends.

The staff are fellow travelers who go out of their way planning fun events for guests. You’ll find some built in activities like coordinated Flamenco shows or tapas nights.

The amenities are fantastic and you’ll have plenty of room types to choose from. A perk to Central Garden is that they’ll hold your bags after checkout until 8:00pm.

This may not be the best fit if you have a potential change of plans as you can only cancel for free up to 21 days before check in.

    4. Primavera Hostel

    Rating ⭐ 9.8/10 stars | Book now

Bustling street scene outside the Primavera Hostel in Barcelona, adorned with a yellow smiley face logo. Patrons enjoy outdoor seating under white umbrellas, with green foliage adding to the charm of the historic building facade.
Primavera is right next to one of my favorite brunch spots - Billy Brunch!

Primavera is always on my hostel recommendation list, no matter who is asking. Renovated in the early 20th century, the building and fixtures are as beautiful as the street you’ll be staying on

Located on Calle Mallorca, this is one of the best, and most authentic “Eixample” streets in the city. You’ll be treated to wide walkable streets, picturesque trees, and most importantly, a safe neighborhood.

Primavera Hostel is not only aesthetically pleasing, but its central location puts you near everything that Barcelona is famous for. Tapas, Sagrada Familia, shopping, and more. It’s a short walk from the nearby metro station, which I'd highly recommend taking advantage of if you want to explore Barcelona like a local.

Primavera Hostel has room offerings for travelers with any budget. Plus, bright surroundings, a helpful staff, and a friendly atmosphere.

This is a great option for flexible travelers who prioritize spontaneity (me) over a rigid itinerary. Cancellations are free up to 4 days in advance and the reception is open 24/7, which can be a lifesaver for late trains or canceled flights.

    5. Mediterranean Youth Hostel

A street view in Barcelona with people walking past the Mediterranean Youth Hostel entrance, with parked motorcycles and patterned pavements.

Mediterranean Youth Hostel is an epic place if you want to meet other young travelers. The lounge access here is some of the best I’ve seen across Europe and you can always count on a social atmosphere to mingle and make new friends.

The kitchen is just as great if you love the option of a home cooked meal on the road. On Sundays, you can count on free pasta dinners and free breakfasts. Perhaps the best perk? Free beer bong!

There are plenty of terraces nearby to sit down and have a drink along with some great restaurants like Spicy Soul and one of the best vegan restaurants in the city, Roots & Rolls. You'll be within a straight shot to Arc de Triomf and Ciutadella Park, which you'll especially love on a warm sunny day.

Access to free computers that actually work well is a great amenity if you need to get some work done during your trip.

    6. The Loft Hostel

    Rating ⭐ 8.8/10 stars | Book now

An empty stairwell with yellow and black graffiti into the entrance of a hostel

If you’re a nature lover, or just welcome the reprieve of a terrace in Barcelona you’re going to want to stay at The Loft Hostel.

The Loft Hostel has one of the best gardens I’ve seen on my travels. This is the perfect location to catch up on work, sip on a warm coffee, and just get some fresh air.

It offers a hipster vibe, encapsulated by plants and art. Ordering food and drinks to the garden is common practice - you’re guaranteed to find other travelers to share a chat with

In addition to clean rooms, the Loft Hostel offers plenty of amenities. You’ll find anything from laundry facilities and free internet access to a bicycle hire. The knowledgeable and friendly staff can help facilitate additional walking tours and events.

Beds tend to run on the smaller size so if you’re quite tall, it may not be the most comfortable sleep.

Guest review: "A really nice and friendly hostel! very nice kitchen and communal terrace as well." - Jesse

    7. Casa Gracia Barcelona Hostel

    Rating ⭐ 9/10 stars | Book now

Casa Gracia feels like more of a hotel than a hostel, but for all of the right reasons

With perks like organized events for guests, you'll find an environment conducive to meeting other travelers in an ultra-chic spot. This place repeatedly wins awards in the large and extra-large hostel category, so you can see why it's so special.

Cozy up with a good book in the adorable library or enjoy a tea on a porch overlooking beautiful Barcelona below. One of my favorite amenities here is the book exchange, creating a connection for my fellow avid readers.

There's so much to do around here; you're a hop and a skip away from C/ de Còrsega, which is lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. You can rent bikes, or take advantage of e-bike tours, and always feel safe with 24/7 security and reception (a perk many hostels do not have).

This hostel tends to attract a bit more of a family crowd. It may not be the best fit for a solo traveler looking to meet like-minded travelers.

    8. Mihlton Barcelona Boutique B&B

    Rating ⭐ 9.7/10 stars | Book now

A tree covered street in Barcelona

Mihlton Barcelona Boutique B&B continues to find itself on my ever evolving recommendation lists. The rooms are unique with intention put into every last detail.

Personal touch is in every detail - guests often receive complimentary wine, water bottles, and cake.

White technically a B&B instead of a hostel, you can expect to find plenty of private room options that are comparable to the hostel rooms.

Each bedroom has their own en-suite with amenities and a hair dryer. I appreciate a private and elevated hostel experience, and I’m sure you will too.

Rates often include breakfast and it’s guaranteed to be an impeccable spread.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, boutique-like experience, I can not recommend Mihlton enough. If you’re looking for social events and to mingle with other single travelers, then one of the other hostel options with social events will be a better fit.

Guest review: "Great location. Lovely staff. Would definitely return again when coming back to Barcelona!" - Jess (more reviews)
