I chose the easy entrance + audio tour when I last visited. The audio tour is thorough and will take 45 minutes. Or, you can opt for the “express” audio tour that only takes 25 minutes.
For those looking for a more immersive experience, there is also the option of booking a guided tour of the basilica (skip the line). This will provide in-depth knowledge about its history and art from knowledgeable guides. You can even hop on some bike tours that will take you to Sagrada!
Lastly, there is also the chance to buy tickets for a guided tour of both the basilica and its impressive towers, allowing access to even more spectacular views.
Best Time to Visit La Sagrada Familia
In the morning, you’ll beat the crowds and get a more peaceful experience.
Mid-week is usually less crowded than weekends, but it’s always worth checking ahead of time to see if there are any special events going on that could draw larger crowds – Barcelona is known for their fun festivals, after all!
When it comes to seasons, it doesn’t really make a difference since the basilica is indoors. Visit in June when summer is gearing up or August when beach season is in full swing. It can be a great escape from the heat in summer or from rain when skies are cloudy, so anytime of year can be a great time to visit.
I would avoid visiting in the afternoons on the weekends, when it’s way busier and you’ll have much less peace to enjoy the beauty of the structure. The cooler months like March, February, and April will see fewer crowds as well.

I’m all about style, practicality, and affordability. Pickpockets can be a real problem in Barcelona, so keeping your belongings secured in front of you is super important.
Don’t just take it from me – this belt back has high ratings and comes in EVERY color. Grab a few to match every outfit, if you want! And, no large bags allowed in the Sagrada Familia, so you’ll want something small to carry your belongings.
LIGHTWEIGHT SUNSCREEN
Because just like the Caribbean, the sun hits different in Barcelona! Protect your skin. And if you’re traveling carry-on only, remember that Europe (specifically London) has pesky liquid requirements to keep in mind.
